Frequent bouts of bronchitis or pneumonia may indicate immune disorders or chronic respiratory diseases.
Chronic cough

How should you prepare for an appointment with a pulmonologist?
To make the most of your appointment with a pulmonologist, it is worth preparing properly in advance:
- Take your medical records with you – imaging results (chest X-ray, CT scan), spirometry, previous consultations and hospital discharge summaries.
- Prepare a list of medications you are taking – particularly inhalers, anti-allergy medicines, steroids, antibiotics and supplements. Make a note of the doses and how often they are taken.
- Describe your symptoms – Make a note of when you experience shortness of breath, a cough, wheezing, chest pain or a feeling of not being able to breathe. It is also important to note any factors that make the symptoms worse (e.g. physical exertion, allergens, infections).
- Write down your questions for the doctor – relating to diagnosis (spirometry, allergy tests, blood gas analysis), treatment or further therapeutic measures.
- Wear something comfortable – this will make it easier to auscultate the lungs, measure oxygen saturation and carry out respiratory function tests.
Being well prepared enables the pulmonologist to assess your health more accurately and to plan further diagnostic tests or treatment for respiratory conditions more quickly.
